Historical Society Meeting Change of Date for May

submitted by Bonnie Burgess

On Tuesday May 29, 2001 beginning at 6:30 p.m., The Alachua Historical Society, Inc. will host an open meeting at City Hall, in the George E. Duke Auditorium, located in beautiful Alachua. The meetings are regularly scheduled for the last Monday of each month, but due to the Memorial Day observance on Monday May 28, 2001, the meeting will be held the next day. We will have a short business meeting at the beginning followed by our featured historic presenter, Mr. Don Davis, First National Bank of Alachua. Each month highlights “citizens” who have lived in Alachua or Alachua County and share the excitement of our rich heritage. We will introduce our newest members, distribute copies of (draft) the by-laws and discuss upcoming events. Citizens of all ages are strongly encouraged to attend and participate. Please note that you do not have to live within the City of Alachua to become a member of the Historical Society. Membership forms will be available. FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT:
