Dear Chamber Members,

It has come to my attention that Mr. Hugh Calderwood told chamber members that I, as a representative of ALA have recommended a moratorium on all zoning changes. Please be aware of two facts:

1- I am not a member of ALA, although I do appreciate their efforts.

2- I did not recommend a moratorium on all zoning changes. I recommended a moratorium on the city's constant comprehensive plan amendments until we update our comprehensive plan.

Not all zoning changes require an amendment, only those that are not addressed in the future land use maps. I am disturbed by this attempt to misrepresent a citizen's comments to further some other agenda. I feel the current lack of planning direction is detrimental to all citizens, especially chamber members who are left to battle the comprehensive plan to develop their land and businesses. I too encourage you to attend the meeting, but to do so in order to contribute to the planning efforts, not to create a divided community or unnecessary animosity.

Thank you for allowing me to correct this misinformation.

Kiera S. Fitzgerald
